Teresa Stroud – My personal Story

1961 the year I was born and this year I will be celebrating my 50th birthday and how I've moaned about getting old!

I’m involved with the ball because for 2 of my friends who were also born in 1961 celebrating their 50th birthday has not been possible. Kim Buckley born 25th September 1961 died May 1995 aged 33 leaving behind 4 young children and many grieving family and friends. Vanessa Kempner born 9th July 1961 died April 2008 aged 47 leaving behind 3 beautiful teenage daughters. 1961 was also the year that my friend Jacquie was born to a wonderful lady Mavis who also died of breast cancer in February 1997. These women inspire me to make the most of life and be thankful for each day.

These are the sad stories but I also have so many friends that are in treatment and remission and I give thanks for Agnes, Cath, Philippa. cancer continues to impact on many lives and we need to continue to raise funds to find cures and treatment.

We have many friends children serving in the forces.

My father was in the war in bomber squadron and we have always respected those who fight for our country and those who give up their lives Help the Heros is an excellent way to show support x x

Cancer is always lurking somewhere!

I remember at the age of 6,my friend Katy,s dad dying of stomach cancer ! She was distraught.

Lying in bed with Charlotte at the tender age of 6 weeks after a sleepless night.Chris walking in and telling me my wonderful mum had breast cancer and was having a mastectomy that week! Stopped me feeling sorry for myself!

Our beautiful neighbour Kim Buckley dying of breast cancer a year after having her fourth child .Her amazing children Jessica, Megan, Jack and Ruby still raise money for Breast Cancer.

Watching Lynda and Nigel sat in their car outside the school, after receiving the bad news .Just knowing by looking at them what that news was.

Mums cancer coming back as Lynda was having her treatment.

The relief each year when my mammogram results come through ! So far so good!!!

The more we are Cancer aware the better it is.

Life is for Living ,lets get on with it !

I am coming to the Ball to raise funds for two fantastic charities that are both close to my heart.

Earlier this year we lost a friend in our friendship group Conrad Lewis, who was known and loved by so many. I know we all want to be at the Ball to celebrate his life, which he lived to the full and to raise money for all the troops still out in Afghanistan.

Cancer Research is a charity that I always donate to as I have lost people to Cancer, know people who have recovered from it and have family that are currently dealing with the illness. I want my Aunty to have an enjoyable night at the Ball and be around people and love and support her. I know she will look amazing and I look forward to seeing her and giving her a great big hug.

Love

I have three reasons for wanting to be involved with The Charity Ball.Org (TheCharityBall.Org)

Firstly I have been blessed with a beautiful healthy family, an enviable lifestyle, the best job in the world and beautiful generous friends and I would like to put something back in.

Secondly I have the privilege to know Lynda Loomes who got me involved in the Fun Raising Floosies which is where TheCharityBall.Org all came from. Lynda and her amazing friend Viv started a charity after Lynda got Cancer and roped me in to do some fund raising. Working alongside Lynda and Viv inspired me to do more, really do more not just say “I would like to do more for charity”.  The Floosies started this I’m just carrying the baton for a while.

Finally,  I got ‘that call’ last October from my brother to say my gorgeous sister-in-law had got Cancer. It was the first time anyone close to me had got Cancer and I knew what a devastating affect it would have on my brother and his girls let alone Lizzie.

I had to do something so I started The Charity Ball.Org. my sister-in-law Liz will be at the next Ball to prove she has not only beaten the C word but she has come out looking like a new woman. Your life will be richer if you go over and speak with her on the Golfers table. She’s tall, beautiful, slim and has dazzling film-star silver hair.

I’m pressing the DONATE button now, please follow me.
