Dietary Requirements – the hotel can cope with all Dietary requirements the greater the notice the higher chance you will be fully satisfied.
Tables – if you are unable to attend on the evening we will refund the value archived on re-sale. We will attempt to get the full ticket price however this may be below the price you paid.
Auction – bidding is infectious, fun and can be very rewarding. However, we must emphasise before the event that successful bidders cannot return prizes after the event or negotiate the value agreed.
If you are successful in winning a prize you must pay in full or sell it on. this year we will be able to take Card Payments for the first time. Cheques and Cash will also be accepted.
If you do ask people be prepared for some big fat No’s I get them all the time but I just move on to the next target. We are raising money for charity and adding quality to people’s life. I never feel bad about asking but I always respect the response whatever the outcome. I am happy to approach a company or an individual if you prefer to introduce me. I am aiming to get a car, a holiday and lots of ‘money can’t buy’ prizes.
It would be wrong to measure support on the evening by the amount of money an individual or company donated whether cash or prize donation. Equally it would be inappropriate to name all the successful auction bidders that contributed so much. These people and companies know who they are and I can only extend my greatest thanks for their support. However, there are some thanks that need naming. I would like to offer my personal thanks to Lynda Loomes and Viv Fletcher who were the inspiration behind the charity. I would like to thank the incredible Tony Lewis who spoke at the event so eloquently and passionately about his beautiful son Conrad Lewis so tragically and prematurely taken from Tony and his family. The Ballroom wasn’t quiet all night but Tony managed to completely silence the audience until they stood to clap a standing ovation to Tony. we will continue to remember Con through 353… details to follow!
I am sure no one would begrudge Paul Johnston from Rhythm Studios and Andrew James a special mention as the Live entertainment they really need to be seen to be believed, fabulous. A big shout-out too, to our Event sponsors Medichem, 3 Way Displays (who provided all the beautiful table acrylics) and Roots to Shoots.
Thank you everyone that supported 2011 and do visit the Gallery on ‘About Us’ to see pictures from last year.
The good news is we are going to do it all again this year. The ethos of the Charity is ‘Raise Money and Have A Ball’ and you certainly had a Ball. The themed tables were a big hit and I’m sure you will have had your favourite but how could you separate the understated ‘My Fat Gypsy Wedding’ from the discreet ‘Purple Flappers’? I was delighted that so many people made such an amazing effort and it was so nice to see the younger generation put the effort in too. Who could forget the Towie inspired ‘Footballers and Wags’ or young Els (age 10) leading the proceedings on The ‘Land of Dragor’. The ‘Themed Tables’ will be back this year – I can’t wait to see Juliet’s next Mezzo table!
The format for 2012 will be similar to last year but I would like your help. This year I would like to sell tables only. It would help immensely if I could work with only 25 table organisers’ who would take responsibility for selling the seats on their table collecting the money and dealing with queries for the table goers. Running the Ball is a tremendous time commitment and last year was incredibly challenging dealing with individuals particularly as we had over 230 people attend.
